Bitcoin below its 200-week MA represents a historical opportunity to buy

Bitcoin (BTC-USD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BTC-USD]) is now below its 200-week moving average for the first time since 2023.

Historically, these dips have been a great buying opportunity, as shown in the chart below.

The cryptocurrency is down 34.1% year-to-date, down 20.2% just in the past month, and down more than 45% since a year ago.

Since October, Bitcoin (BTC-USD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BTC-USD]) has lost half of its value. June was the worst month since 2022, down 21%.

In addition, Bitcoin (BTC-USD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BTC-USD]) has underperformed the Nasdaq 100 (QQQM [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/QQQM]), (COMP:IND [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/COMP:IND]) in every one of the last four quarters. In the second quarter, it underperformed by 42 percentage points.
