Hemab, Seaport surge as clinical-stage biotechs make trading debuts

Shares of Hemab Therapeutics (COAG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/COAG]) and Seaport Therapeutics (SPTX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SPTX]) surged on Friday as the clinical-stage biotechs made their trading debuts following upsized offerings that raised more than $550M in gross proceeds in total. Following the IPO priced at $18.00 apiece, shares of Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Hemab (COAG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/COAG]) opened at $27.00 at 12:30 PM ET, indicating a ~50% rise to reach $29.68 by 1:30 PM ET, standing ~65% above the initial public offering price.

Seaport (SPTX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SPTX]), which focuses on neuropsychiatric drugs, opened for trading at $21 per share at 12:30 PM ET, implying a ~17% rise following its offering, which was also priced at $18 per share. The stock had reached $22.51 at 1:30 PM ET, indicating a ~25% gain.

Hemab (COAG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/COAG]), a drug developer targeting bleeding disorders, and Seaport (SPTX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SPTX]), led by prominent biotech executive Daphne Zohar, expect to generate $301.5M and $254.9M in gross proceeds, respectively, from their offerings, anticipated to close on or about May 4.
