_AHEAD OF MEMORIAL DAY, WE WANT TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION TO THE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE FOR OUR FREEDOM. SEEKING ALPHA WISHES ALL OUR SUBSCRIBERS A BEAUTIFUL HOLIDAY WEEKEND AND LET US REMEMBER THOSE WHO COURAGEOUSLY GAVE THEIR LIVES._

Traders will get some time off from the stock market on Memorial Day amid booming investor optimism for equities. The S&P 500 (SP500 [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SP500]) has already notched 14 closing record highs since the beginning of April, even topping the 7,500 level, driven by the Q1 earnings season and significant AI momentum.

On the macro side, there are some notable economic prints on the calendar this week, including Q1 GDP and the core PCE price index report, which is the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge. The latter will be especially important in determining the direction of monetary policy, given the ongoing Iran war and its volatile impacts on energy.

_Trading schedule for Memorial Day:_ The holiday in the U.S. will see the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq closed on Monday, though stock futures will be active. At the time of writing, contracts linked to the Dow (INDU [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/INDU]), S&P 500 (SPX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SPX]) and Nasdaq 100 (US100:IND [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/US100:IND]) are showing some big gains, ahead by 0.8%, 0.9%, and 1.4%, respectively.

Also open... Metals and energy futures on Comex and the New York Mercantile Exchange will trade until 1:30 PM ET on Monday, while crypto will be available all day, with Bitcoin (BTC-USD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BTC-USD]) last changing hands up 0.7% at $77,487.

Across the pond, stock markets in Paris and Frankfurt are open, but the London Stock Exchange is closed for a bank holiday. In Asia, trading was active in China, India, and Japan, with all local benchmark indices ending the session higher and the Nikkei 225 Index (NKY:IND [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/NKY:IND]) soaring to a fresh all-time high.
