President Donald Trump has delayed tariff hikes for upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets and vanities for an additional year, the White House announced.
These tariff hikes were previously slated to take effect on Jan. 1, 2026.
The 25% tariff on certain upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities, which was imposed last September, will remain in effect.
The White House said the tariff hikes were delayed to allow for further negotiations with other countries, given ongoing productive talks regarding imports of wood products.
"The U.S. continues to engage in productive negotiations with trade partners to address trade reciprocity and national security concerns with respect to imports of wood products," it added [https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/12/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-adjusts-imports-of-timber-lumber-and-their-derivative-products-into-the-united-states/].
