The utilities sector has delivered impressive returns this year, with the Utilities Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLU [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XLU]) advancing approximately 13.3% year-to-date after reaching an all-time high of $46.89 in mid-October.

Among individual utility stocks, gains have been even more dramatic, with top performers posting returns well above 100%.
