UK's unemployment rate rises to 5% in March

* The unemployment rate in the UK increased to % in March from 4.90% in February of 2026, above estimates of 4.9%.
* The UK unemployment rate for people aged 16 years and over was estimated at 5.0% in January to March 2026. This is up 0.5 percentage points on the year but down 0.2 percentage points on the latest quarter.
* There were an estimated 23,000 working days lost because of labour disputes across the UK in March 2026.
