U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.20%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Consumer Services and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.20%, while the S&P 500 index gained 0.14%, and the NASDAQ Composite index climbed 0.27%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Boeing Co (NYSE:BA), which rose 1.62% or 3.67 points to trade at 230.51 at the close. Meanwhile, Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT) added 1.44% or 1.36 points to end at 95.76 and 3M Company (NYSE:MMM) was up 1.33% or 2.07 points to 157.91 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX), which fell 2.34% or 3.64 points to trade at 151.67 at the close. Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) declined 2.09% or 3.29 points to end at 153.76 and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) was down 1.20% or 2.54 points to 208.62.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were EQT Corporation (NYSE:EQT) which rose 5.33% to 58.28, Autodesk Inc (NASDAQ:ADSK) which was up 5.05% to settle at 294.55 and Palantir Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:PLTR) which gained 4.96% to close at 149.15.

The worst performers were Waters Corporation (NYSE:WAT) which was down 13.81% to 304.18 in late trade, Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:MU) which lost 4.76% to settle at 118.60 and Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL) which was down 4.59% to 22.02 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Presidio Property Trust (NASDAQ:SQFT) which rose 158.56% to 13.60, TROOPS Inc (NASDAQ:TROO) which was up 104.55% to settle at 1.34 and Stardust Power Inc (NASDAQ:SDST) which gained 88.29% to close at 0.47.

The worst performers were Ruanyun Edai Tech Inc (NASDAQ:RYET) which was down 90.60% to 1.90 in late trade, Everbright Digital Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:EDHL) which lost 79.07% to settle at 0.90 and Mink Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:INKT) which was down 36.72% to 40.61 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1460 to 1309 and 81 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1889 rose and 1449 declined, while 138 ended unchanged.

Shares in Palantir Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:PLTR) rose to all time highs; up 4.96% or 7.05 to 149.15. Shares in Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.62% or 3.67 to 230.51. Shares in Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.09% or 3.29 to 153.76. Shares in 3M Company (NYSE:MMM) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 1.33% or 2.07 to 157.91. Shares in Presidio Property Trust (NASDAQ:SQFT) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 158.56% or 8.34 to 13.60. Shares in Ruanyun Edai Tech Inc (NASDAQ:RYET) fell to all time lows; down 90.60% or 18.32 to 1.90. Shares in Everbright Digital Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:EDHL) fell to all time lows; down 79.07% or 3.40 to 0.90.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 4.88% to 17.20.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.31% or 10.33 to $3,353.67 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.24% or 1.53 to hit $66.92 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.69% or 1.19 to trade at $69.17 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.17, while USD/JPY rose 0.21% to 147.73.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 97.78.
