The positive analyst sentiment is driven by the strong potential of the company's lead drug candidate, atacicept, for treating IgA nephropathy. The company's agreement with the FDA, announced on June 2, 2026, allows VERA to analyze key kidney function data from its Phase III ORIGIN 3 study earlier than expected. Moreover, if the trial results are positive, the firm could apply for full FDA approval of its lead drug, atacicept, in the fourth quarter of 2026.

In addition, the analyst also pointed to strong data from an earlier Phase IIb eGFR study and noted atacicept is currently under priority review for accelerated approval. The drug may be approved for a broader group of IgA nephropathy patients, which could expand its market opportunity, noted the analyst.
