Weekly ETF flows: Seven out of 11 sectors record outflows; Industrial sector leads with higher inflows

The world's largest exchange-traded fund, SPDR S&P 500 Trust (SPY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SPY]), saw inflows of $6.17 billion for the week ending December 05. The broader index tracking SPDR S&P 500 Trust (SPY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SPY]) also gained 0.80% during the last week.

iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/IBIT]) saw an outflow of $130.21 million last week. Bitcoin (BTC-USD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BTC-USD]) also slipped 2.3% last week. On the other hand, Gold SPDR Gold Shares ETF (GLD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GLD]) recorded inflows totaling $692.44 million last week. However, GLD slipped 0.85%_ _last week.

The 11 S&P 500 sector tracking ETFs, together, recorded a net inflow of about $232.61 million last week, according to the data from etfdb.com.

The highest inflow of funds last week was seen in the Industrial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLI [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XLI]), with an inflow totaling $537.59 million, followed by Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XLV]), which saw an inflow totaling $309.11 million. The Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XLY]) recorded an inflow of $168.4 million last week.

Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XLK]) led the outflow as seven out of 11 sectors saw money flowing out of their respective sector wise funds. The Technology Sector (XLK [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XLK]) saw an outflow of $347.10 million, followed by Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XLF]) with $261.64 million flowing out last week. The Materials Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLB [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XLB]) recorded an outflow of $107.16 million last week.
