India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.35%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Power and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.35% to hit a new 6-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.36%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Jio Financial Services Ltd (NSE:JIOF), which rose 3.84% or 12.00 points to trade at 324.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Asian Paints Ltd. (NSE:ASPN) added 3.15% or 72.20 points to end at 2,362.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE:INBK) was up 3.14% or 26.25 points to 862.35 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NSE:TACN), which fell 2.13% or 24.40 points to trade at 1,121.00 at the close. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NSE:REDY) declined 1.44% or 19.00 points to end at 1,302.50 and Wipro Ltd (NSE:WIPR) was down 1.16% or 3.12 points to 265.40.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which rose 3.09% to 2,360.00, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 2.85% to settle at 859.75 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which gained 2.50% to close at 12,243.00.

The worst performers were Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.80% to 1,224.50 in late trade, Eternal Ltd (BO:ETEA) which lost 0.77% to settle at 263.10 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 0.73% to 944.50 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1344 to 1049 and 37 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2132 rose and 1724 declined, while 145 ended unchanged.

Shares in UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.50% or 298.20 to 12,243.00.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.83% to 12.36 a new 6-months low.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.47% or 49.30 to $3,298.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.74% or 0.48 to hit $65.72 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.39 to trade at $67.08 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.09% to 85.55, while EUR/INR fell 0.09% to 100.12.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 96.92.
