U.S. indexes sank on Thursday as investors continue to sell stocks amid revenue economic fears after the government shutdown end optimism faded.

Consumer discretionary (XLY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XLY]), technology (XLK [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XLK]), and communication services (XLC [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XLC]) headed the decline with giants such as Walt Disney (DIS [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/DIS]) down more than 8%; Tesla (TSLA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/TSLA]) down more than 6%; and Super Micro Computer (SMCI [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SMCI]) also more than 6%, as some of the S&P 500’s (SP500 [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SP500]) top laggards.

Part of the anxiety over these sectors is artificial intelligence spending, AI bubble fears, and the increasingly high expectation on earnings reports.
