SEC requests Solana ETF refilings by end-July, opening door to early approval - report

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has asked issuers behind proposed Solana (SOL-USD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SOL-USD]) exchange-traded funds to submit amended S-1 registration filings by the end of July, signaling a potentially accelerated approval timeline, according to a media report.

It appears the SEC wants an accelerated process that could see approval of one or more of the spot ETFs well before the formal Oct. 10 deadline, CoinDesk reported, citing one person familiar with the matter.

Note that the REX-Osprey Sol + Staking ETF (SSK [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SSK]) already started trading last week, marking the market debut of the first staking-focused Solana ETF. This first-mover advantage positions SSK ahead of other Solana ETF contenders still awaiting the green light.

Because SSK falls under the Investment Company Act of 1940, approval was set to take effect automatically unless the SEC intervened.
