Trump to halt migration from all 'Third World Countries' after National Guard shooting

President Donald Trump has announced that he will permanently halt migration from all "Third World Countries," following a shooting near the White House that killed a National Guard member.

"I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden's Autopen, and remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States, or is incapable of loving our Country, end all Federal benefits and subsidies to noncitizens of our Country, denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization," Trump posted on Truth Social.

The announcement came after two National Guardsmen were shot when they were patrolling near the White House on Wednesday. Sarah Beckstrom died of her injuries a day later, while Andrew Wolfe remains in critical condition.

Investigators said the shooting was carried out by an Afghan national, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who was part of an Afghan partner force that worked closely with the CIA.

He later moved to the U.S. in 2021 under a Biden-era resettlement program for Afghans who were at risk and worked alongside U.S. forces in Afghanistan, following U.S. troops' withdrawal from the country.

Meanwhile, War Secretary Pete Hegseth said Trump requested that he order 500 additional National Guardsmen to Washington in the wake of the shooting.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services issued [https://www.uscis.gov/newsroom/news-releases/uscis-implements-additional-national-security-measures-in-the-in-the-wake-of-national-guard-shooting] new guidance "allowing for negative, country-specific factors to be considered when vetting aliens from 19 high-risk countries," including Afghanistan.

The USCIS stopped processing of all immigration requests relating to Afghan nationals, and its director Joseph Edlow ordered a "full scale, rigorous reexamination of every Green Card for every alien from every country of concern."
