Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has imposed five-year anti-dumping duties on certain hot-rolled steel imports from China, effective July 6.

The duties range from 23.1% to 27.8% and apply to flat-rolled steel or alloy steel products (with or without alloy), hot-rolled, with a thickness between 1.2mm and 25.4mm, and a width not exceeding 1,880mm.

Stainless-steel and hot-rolled plate products are excluded.

The ministry’s investigation found that hot-rolled coil imports from China and India were dumped, harming the domestic industry. However, imports from India made up less than 3% of the total and were considered negligible.

The move comes as Malaysia said on Saturday it has imposed provisional anti-dumping duties ranging from 3.86% to 57.90% on certain iron and steel imports from China, South Korea and Vietnam.
